Optical or body heat sensors can be placed across or above doorways, and thin pressure mats can be hidden in matwells. Sensors can be connected to data loggers or wired directly into an office PC running the EcoPC database which captures the counts at the instant they happen. The counts from several doors can be recorded individually or combined. If the building has no mains electricity then the sensor choices are more limited. The approach footpath might be monitored instead to count people on their way to such a building. Doors and buildings vary such a lot that each one needs to be considered on its own merits.
